RSA Animate - Changing Education Paradigms

As I age I am spending an usual amount of time uneducating my learning methods. A problem we may have is figuring out a cost effective way of delivering knowledge with the least waste for the consumer, the student, and know that any changes we make are actually better.

The future is always different than we think it is going to be.

Someone made a good point on SC that "you can`t really sneak something as big as an arena by", and that they see a public vote. I wouldn`t think getting an arena will be problem if the county gets the tourism taxes w/o the state requiring a public vote, would you? My big fear is the state is gonna require a public vote if the county uses the tax on safeco or an arena. If that happens, i think even the M`s would have a tough time winning that vote. 4culture and sports fans pulling together is good, and i think it is a really good idea, but it would be frustrating if sports fans hands are tied by a required public vote, which would be almost impossible to win.

I do not think any of the bills that have passed either side of the legislature over the past 2 or 3 years have had a popular vote requirement.

You wrote on SC that bel-red was your "uneducated guess" Couldn`t ballmer stop an arena from going up in bellevue? If i recall he killed an potential bellevue arena when the ballmer group formed.

If they actually do contract teams, won`t that hurt our chances of getting an new team? It seems like if the teams that are in trouble and could be sold are contracted, that could shut us out, couldn`t it? Do you see us getting an expansion team if we get an arena a few years down the road after they contract teams?

I got a response from dow, and it basically was the same response you got. Word for word. It probably was an auto-reply. I included an arena in my email, but is all he mentioned was 4culture. I know dow is a busy man, but does this mean he`s less committed on the arena issue?

The response means that there are about 2 million people in King County and he gets a ton of email.
The primary focus of legislation is not going to be an arena for an invisible team, it would be for existing programs that are about to lose funding.

I just want a bill that gives everything funded, including safeco, an arena and the arts. I included an arena in the email since we have to get everything in the bill, not just the arts. I hope dow can lead on this issue and its not like some people on sc say that someone like ballmer will have to basically do it all, ala paul allen and qwest.

i was just happy for an response. i would have liked to see something on an arena though. something as simple as "i am a sports fan too" would have been good enough for me. on the thread about the meeting with dow, why didnt they specifically say dow said what we can do now is that we should get control of the taxes? it just said "that's what we can do now".

Do you think dow read my email? Kieran`s email to dow on SC was good but i fear it was too long for dow to actually read it. He doesnt have the time. I appreciated the response and i hope he read it. People do make good points on SC. If dow gets the taxes and tries to build an arena, won`t all hell break loose when the county passes the arena? I can just see it now. The anti sports $ is so powerful it may be harder to pass the arena at the county level than the state level.

peter, you worry too much. dow this! dow that!. Baker doesnt know everything, you continually ask him as if he is dow himself. Chill out brother. you seek the same answer by asking so many questions. Yes, we are all dying for imformation re an arena. But god go back and read all your posts on here, you sound like a 8 year old. "do you think dow read my email" i mean come on, Yes Peter, dow read your email ok. "so and so said this on SC , why do you think he said that?" it reminds me of a school boy complaining to a teacher. I also like to come here for insight, but im surprised the guy even responds to you. You're driving me crazy. you hang all your hope on "i wish dow could have mentioned an arena in my email back to me" and "is he less committed to an arena". Ok I'm done,im out of characters

He has a point, Peter. You’ve been posting so much on this site and there’s no way Baker has time to answer all your questions. You should try to limit how much you post here. You’re anxious for Seattle to get a new team, and that’s understandable, but it’s not going to happen that quickly, so just sit tight.

It is a fact that nobody will talk to anybody, about anything, until after the election.

Sorry about what i`ve been doing. You guys definitely are right. I guess i just get worried. I`ve been going through alot medically in the last year. It was definitely wrong of me to expect all the answers right now. I just gotta wait like everyone else. In the future i`ll ask alot less questions and let things work out on their own.
